Prof. Dr. Christoph B. Bühler, LL.M.

Christoph B. Bühler is an attorney-at-law with extensive and broad-ranging experience in the specialised fields of corporate law, capital markets law, financial services law and corporate governance. He is a recognised issuer representative before SIX Swiss Exchange and serves as a member of the independent appeals body of SIX Swiss Exchange. He also serves as chair, vice-chair and member of various boards of directors and board committees and is a founding member of swissVR, the Swiss association dedicated to the professionalisation of board members.

Christoph B. Bühler obtained his doctorate and was admitted to the Swiss bar in 1999. Following a part-time, practice-oriented LL.M. programme in International Business Law with a specialisation in financial market law at the University of Zurich. He worked as a Foreign Associate with the American law firm Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York from 2002 to 2003 and as partner of the law firm böckli bühler partners in Basel from 2004 to 2026.

In 2009, he completed his habilitation thesis on “Regulation in the Field of Corporate Governance”. He is an Associate Professor of Swiss and International Commercial and Business Law at the University of Zurich, where he teaches Banking Law in the Master's programme and co-chairs the annual conference “Quo Vadis Swiss Financial Centre”, dedicated to current developments in financial services law. As a member of the faculty of the Center for Financial Market Regulation at the University of Zurich, he contributes to academic research and the further development of regulatory concepts and approaches in the financial sector, taking into account international regulatory standards.

He is also a frequent speaker and the author of numerous publications in the fields of corporate and financial services law, including contributions to the Zurich Commentary on Swiss Corporate Law, where he authored the commentary on the provisions relating to the board of directors. He is a member of the editorial board of the Swiss Review of Business and Financial Market Law (SZW) and, in that capacity, regularly serves as co-chair and speaker at the recurring SZW Conference on Corporate Law.
